The Dandelion

We’re so grateful to Dori Midnight for creating this image, which has become a powerful symbol for the spiral of the Work That Reconnects. Dori is a US-based writer, healer, teacher, artist and ritual leader who gave the painting as a gift to Joanna many years ago. We included it in Active Hope, and it has since also inspired the book covers of the Swedish, Czech and Brazilian editions. We’re grateful also to Dori for giving her permission for this artwork to be used in support of Active Hope and the Work That Reconnects, though whenever we or you do this, we’d also ask that we credit Dori for her creative work.

Dori writes: "The dandelion belongs to everyone- its nature is to be a plant of the people; every single part of its body is edible, medicinal, and deeply nutritious. It breaks up concrete, aerates soil, and laughs in bursts of sunshine in the face of pesticides and the attempt to eradicate it. May this bright medicine of joy and resilience and resistance and indeed, active hope, continue to thrive in service to this work.”
